Why it is drawn this way
Most backyards of this size are quoted by a pool company, a mason, a carpenter, an electrician and a landscaper who have never seen each other's plans. That is where the grade stops matching, the drainage gets solved twice, and the pavilion ends up eighteen inches off the patio it was supposed to sit on. Allin draws the whole yard first, then builds it.
What Allin builds
Almost every project below arrives combined with two or three of the others, because that is how a backyard actually gets used. They are listed separately so you can see the depth in each one.
Chapter 01
Gunite and fiberglass pools, personal spas, spillover water features, automatic covers and energy efficient equipment. A pool is never drawn on its own here: the deck, the pavilion, the kitchen, the fire and the planting are all on the same sheet before anything is dug.

Chapter 02
Motorized louvered roofs, pavilion and gable roofs, screened-in porches, sunrooms, composite decks and pool pavilions. The roof decides whether the room actually works through a Tennessee July and a Tennessee downpour, so the roof is the first decision, not the last.

Chapter 03
Landscape design and renovation, foundation plantings, garden bed design, seasonal colour, lighting plans, drainage solutions and full installation. Privacy screens are specified by species: Emerald Green and Green Giant Arborvitae, Skip Laurel, Nellie Stevens Holly, Taylor Juniper, Columnar Hornbeam.

Chapter 04
Built-in grills from Alfresco, Artisan, Blaze and Lynx, stone and granite counters, refrigeration and ice, sinks, egg cooker areas and pizza ovens, planned into the run rather than added to it.

Custom fire pits and outdoor fireplaces in stone and brick masonry, with the seating circle drawn around the heat instead of furniture pushed at it afterwards.

Paver and natural stone patios in Techo Bloc and Belgard, cut to take the kitchen and the fire feature from the start. The base and the drainage are the part you never see and the part that decides how it looks in ten years.

How a project runs

The initial consultation is complimentary, and it is a listening exercise. Our stated approach is to listen attentively to what you need rather than promote a plan we already drew. Bring the ideas you have saved and tell us how you actually want to use the yard.

You get a design drawing of the whole backyard and a detailed itemised cost estimate, so the scope is clear before anything is dug. Clients have told us the final cost and the finished product came in exactly as quoted.

As a licensed General Contractor with the State of Tennessee, one design-build team runs the pool, the covered structure, the kitchen, the fire features, the patios, the drainage, the lighting and the planting, from the first concept drawing through final construction.
A named job
Rick Galloway had Allin design and contract his entire backyard, then had Jonathan Allin finish the landscaping. The old yard came out and the new one was designed and constructed from the ground up: a rotating pergola, three wall fountains, a gas fireplace and an outdoor kitchen area. In his words it was like adding an addition to the back of the house.
